Our Role

Dr. Andre and his staff have developed a unique approach to usability testing that couches the usability findings in the context of key user experience objectives and interface design elements, and provides immediate redesign guidance to our customers.

Our belief as that usability testing is a means to an end; not the end itself. Every study we develop and conduct includes the right mix of measures (empirical, behavioral, and subjective) with tasks and goals that educate the client on what is done well and what areas of the design need improvement. We make sure our client walks away understanding the user experience and have a clear set of changes to make timely decisions on how to respond to the test results.

Testing Procedure

Our full-service usability test includes a complete turn-key process from test development to reporting:

• Development of the test design
• Writing of participant protocol/s (test scripts)
• Provision of test materials (data logs, pre- and post-test surveys)
• Participant recruitment, screening, scheduling and payment
• Test administration (conducting participants through the protocol/s)
• Data recording and behaviors-logging
• Analysis of objective, observational, and subjective data
• Creation of a video highlights montage
• Report generation, including (re)design recommendations

Usability Testing Lab

Our high-technology usability testing lab is configurable and has been set up to accommodate a variety of configurations to include a home environment, office workspace, and a car/driving simulation/scenario. State-of-the-art video and audio recording capabilities are employed, along with scan conversion for recording 'on-screen' inputs. Our cameras can zoom in and capture the smallest of screens so observers know what part of the device the user is interacting with throughout the session.
