Usability Quote of the Day

March 21, 2010

Software design is the act of determining the user's experience with a piece of software. It has nothing to do with how the code works inside, or how big or small the code is. The designer's task is to specify completely and unambiguously the user's whole experience. -- David Liddle, From Bringing Design to Software, edited by Terry Winograd, 1996   (via interaction-design.org)

Be a tester for Siemens Products and blog about it!

Traditionally product managers and marketing people rely on filtered information from market research, panels and so called trend-agencies. Siemens now tears down the middle-tiers and gives away not-yet released phones for testing purposes and let the testers share their experiences. Interestingly enough the feedback will be public.

Testers will release their opinions on a blogging platform, which will be an integral part of the Siemens Communications site. Individual tester blogs for each product will be aggregated and linked to from the product pages within the next generation section. After the release of a phone the posts from categories like "Bug", "Idea" or "Hack" will stick to the product´s page.

A new usability testing format? ...
