Usability Quote of the Day

May 23, 2012

There's something very odd going on here. If designers made completely unrealistic assumptions about the physical world when designing technology, then we would blame them (and likely sue them) for technical incompetence. Yet when they make grossly unrealistic assumptions about human nature... we don't blame the designers, we blame the unfortunate people who are just trying to do what the design requires. -- Kim Vicente, The Human Factor, p. 45.    (via interaction-design.org)

Gulf Air to introduce new state-of-the-art First and Business Class seats

The first Gulf Air Airbus A330 is at the Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco) for a two week refurbishment process which will see its First and Business Class cabins transformed and, ready to enter service on the Abu Dhabi London route.

Central to the refit is the installation of state-of-the-art seats in the First and Business Class cabins which Gulf Air is confident will re-confirm its position as the region's ultimate luxury airline.

The latter employs a lounge-bed profile, in as much as it not completely flat; this ergonomic design has been 'scientifically proven' to provide the healthiest and most comfortable sleeping position for air travellers.

'The Business-Class seat design is different to the 'Z' shape design favoured by some carriers, which we don't believe is the optimal design for sleeper seats. A sleep survey we conducted proves that our lounge profile is a far better position for a good night's sleep,' said Mr Hogan.

Hi
I would like to say everyone at the age of 13 to 19 who are flying alone should get first class tickets.
