Usability Quote of the Day

May 23, 2012

There's something very odd going on here. If designers made completely unrealistic assumptions about the physical world when designing technology, then we would blame them (and likely sue them) for technical incompetence. Yet when they make grossly unrealistic assumptions about human nature... we don't blame the designers, we blame the unfortunate people who are just trying to do what the design requires. -- Kim Vicente, The Human Factor, p. 45.    (via interaction-design.org)

Full Metal Keyboard

Looking good but don't try to type on it ...

"Oooh… shiny! Japanese company Interworld Electronics has released an all-stainless-steel keyboard that’s apparently dustproof and waterproof. It looks super-thin and the buttons appear flat, which might mean it’ll be a hassle to type. But with a look this gorgeous, who cares? It retails for 39,800 yen which is about 350 USD, though it will probably never see our shores."   continued ...   (Via Gizmodo)
