Usability Quote of the Day

May 23, 2012

There's something very odd going on here. If designers made completely unrealistic assumptions about the physical world when designing technology, then we would blame them (and likely sue them) for technical incompetence. Yet when they make grossly unrealistic assumptions about human nature... we don't blame the designers, we blame the unfortunate people who are just trying to do what the design requires. -- Kim Vicente, The Human Factor, p. 45.    (via interaction-design.org)

Marc Vander Beeken created these 4 groups for Experience Design Conferences.
Lots of duplication of effort, but there are differences in focus and thus content.

Thanks Dave for pointing this out. In fact, the Eventful calendar is a shared calendar. So it is actually made to facilitate creating overlapping, yet different calendars.

For instance, Usernomics could upload the events in a calendar they create, and with one click I (or you, or anyone) can add the relevant ones also to the experience design calendar on Eventful.

Likewise, you can start a calendar on user interface design, human factors and ergonomics, simply by selecting those events from the Experience Design calendar that you think are relevant, and that add your own ones.

In that sense, it works very much like del.icio.us.

For all clarity here is the URL of the experience design calendar on Eventful:
