Usability Quote of the Day

February 9, 2012

Most people who encounter computer-based automation at work do not choose the software with which they work, and have comparatively little control over when and how they do what they do. Dunston at 1976design.com points out that blog comments move “in a linear hoppity-skip way that makes a consistent flow of discussion almost impossible to maintain.” So he came up with a system that lets people mark which comment they’re replying to so poeple can follow disparate threads of conversation.

Guy Kawasaki recently started responding to comments within the same comment. (“I’ve found that it’s too hard to track a thread, so I’m responding in this new manner.”)"   continued ...   (Via Signal vs. Noise)
